Terms of Service

Last updated: April 7, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the PocketWatcher mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

PocketWatcher is operated by Logan Nickels ("we," "us," or "our"). You can reach us at support@trypocketwatcher.com.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use PocketWatcher. By using the App, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age.

3. Account Registration

To use PocketWatcher, you must create an account using an email address and password, or through Apple Sign In. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.

You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscription and Payments

PocketWatcher requires a paid subscription to use. We offer the following plans:

  • Monthly: $9.99/month with a 1-month free trial
  • Yearly: $79.99/year

Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store and managed by RevenueCat. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Refund requests must be directed to Apple, as we do not process payments directly.

5. Bank Account Connection

PocketWatcher allows you to connect your bank account through Plaid, a third-party financial data service. By connecting your bank:

  • You authorize Plaid to access your transaction data on your behalf
  • We store a secure access token to sync your transactions — we do not store your bank account numbers, login credentials, or bank balances
  • We cannot make charges or transfers on your behalf
  • Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's terms and privacy policy

6. What You Can Do

PocketWatcher lets you:

  • Set a monthly spending budget
  • View your transactions synced from your bank or entered manually
  • Create or join groups with other users using invite codes
  • See group members' spending activity (subject to their privacy settings)
  • Compete on leaderboards based on budget adherence

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
  • Create fake accounts or impersonate others
  • Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App
  • Use automated tools to access the App (bots, scrapers, etc.)

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these rules. Other users can report you for misconduct, and we review reports at our discretion.

8. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.

9. Content and Data

You retain ownership of the data you provide (display name, username, manual transactions, etc.). By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store and display this data as needed to provide the service.

Transaction data synced from your bank via Plaid is stored in our database to provide the App's features. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App.

10. Groups and Social Features

When you join a group, other group members can see your spending activity according to your privacy settings:

  • Public: Merchant name, amount, and category are visible
  • Category only: Only the spending category and amount are visible
  • Private: The transaction is hidden from other group members

You control your own privacy level for each transaction. We are not responsible for what group members do with information visible to them through the App.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

PocketWatcher is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the App's reliability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

We are not a financial advisor. The App is a budgeting tool and does not provide financial, investment, or tax advice. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, financial losses, or inability to access the service.

Our total liability for any claim related to the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings > Delete Account). Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from our systems, including your profile, transactions, group memberships, and reports. This action cannot be undone.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
